LearningTimes Produces First Live Online Battledecks Competition

Four presenters showed off their extemporaneous speaking skills today during the Handheld Librarian Online Conference III as part of the first “Battledecks” competition to have ever been held completely live online.

LearningTimes helped pioneer yet another exciting new approach to connecting and learning live online today with the first known completely live online Battledecks competition.

During the Handheld Librarian Online Conference III “Battledecks”, each presenter was shown a set of slides which they had never seen before and that had been created by someone else. Each presenter was tasked with delivering a cogent, compelling “presentation” on the fly related to the key theme of mobile technology in libraries. Five presenters were given 8 minutes each in which to amaze the audience.
Facilitated by Beth Avery, speakers included Chad Mairn, Sarah Houghton-Jan, Tom Peters and Lori
Bell. The winner was Houghton-Jan, who garnered 65% of the total votes.
